Main Building – 16th century palatial building, originally built in Florence’s late Renaissance period for the affluent Ricasoli family (inventors of Chianti wine). The building benefits from many Renaissance features, including an outdoor arcade surrounding the courtyard, lime washed walls and original frescoes. The design scheme is based around the reinterpretation of the Renaissance movement, augmenting the historical features of the hotel, and referencing to the geometries & motifs of classical Florentine architecture.    Branzi Building – constructed in the 1980s, it serves as a Modernist juxtaposition to its older counterpart, with a timber slatted facade and a minimal, linear architectural style. The building was designed by Florentine architect & designer Andrea Branzi, founder of Archizoom, who later went on to form part of the postmodernist Memphis Group – which was a key inspirational reference for our design.
